Snow Forecast Commentary

Moist northerlies will be too warm for snow today, with areas of rain expected, although generally light. Only the peaks of Thredbo and Mt Hotham are a chance of seeing snow. On Saturday a front will allow colder winds to develop, with snow lowering throughout the day. A burst of colder air will push into the southeast on Sunday, with snowfalls lowering to 900 metres. Strong winds will mix with the heavy snow to bring near blizzard conditions. Monday through Thursday, pulses of cold air will sweep over the southeast, maintaining strong winds and snow showers. Snow showers will increase on Wednesday with a weak front. Conditions are looking ideal for skiing in the following weekend as skies clear out and winds ease after the heavy snowfalls during the week.
