Amazing. The report said 5cm fresh, wow! By this afternoon's cam, lower Merritts was back to grass. Oh well, only 8 months to wait. |

By the look of the Sunday morning camera at Merritts I'd say they got a good bit of recent snow up top. It was grass Friday and now solid white. However I understand only the Supertrail and The Basin are open for the final weekend.

The snow cam links from weatherzone are looking rather sad; and the satus report is stuck on last Sunday, with descriptions that suggest alot has gone between then and now. |

Depends on the weather! There's still plenty of snow up there

So Karen, your thoughts on how long the back may stay reasonable?

I don't think the bottom will be open after tomoz. It was sketchy today. The basin was a hoot!!

On the web cam it looks very thin at the Kosi chair load point, but Thredbo still call it top to bottom.Having said that, the last bend towards the bottom was about 1.5m high in banked snow when I was there a week ago, although I don't know what it is like now. The Basin cam is starting to look rather sad. |

If you rely on patrol to replace common sense with orange poles at thredbo, then you are probably going to die.Seriously, there aren't enough good patrollers to cover every square inch. It's you versus nature at speed. |

So my thoughts on thredbo on the weekend (28th - 30th sept). i headed up friday after chuckin a snowie positives - looooong runs - epic boulders - outrageous amounts of snow higher up - the most ridiculous windblown snow constantly ive ever come across - friendly staff - spectacular environment the rivers especially after fridays tsunami were something else i could not believe how fast and full they were even as high as 1800M negatives / suggestions - name tags for staff like hotham, i think it makes everything feel friendlier - get some steep terrain - dont be in nsw - put more orange poles where the snow has collapsed in the higher rivers...i almost fell in one and died i shall upload some photos later for those of us already suffering from SDS |

I’d hate to see it in mid winter. In order, 1) someone on the Perisher thread said exactly the same thing. 2) That non first timers thing at 1pm is a bit strange, we are quite used to putting our girl in lessons in the morning and skiing with her this arvo. 3) Merritts funnily enough worked like clockwork in the hols? Maybe they were on reduced staff?? Best food on the mountain IMO Just got back from the long weekend, the snow quality on Saturday was outstanding, dry fun!! Friday was a bit of a challenge, Sunday was good early, as was the basin this morning (Monday). Hard to believe it was Oct 1 today, great weekend! My daughter learned to snowboard this weekend, she was actually carving some of her turns, not sliding Edit: added movie |

What a way to finish the resort. On Saturday I got a first (for closing), FACESHOT just under the cornice off Sponars, and I had a witness (Backpack) so no, it was not a faceplant, or mates rooster. The skiing was really excellent, unbelievable after the tsunami on Friday night. The faceshot was a standout, the Falls skied so well, Little Stanley's was fun skiing, so many good lines that day, we didnt stop for lunch it was too good.Sunday would have been amazing for a LWE, but after Saturday, well... Today was typical season end type skiing for a good season. And having lifts shut was a bonus if you know how to get around. Sponars drift was creamy, Highnoon was groomed, even though Gunbarrel was shut, so no one was skiing it. So good instead of going on to FF to finish, I downloaded on Merritts, back up Basin, and did it one more time. Yesterday afternoon I decided to don the xc's, and skied over to Cox Harbour [img:left] [/img]The skis were going so well I did a sick air [img:left] [/img]Watched some kiting [img:left] [/img]Then the weather started to come in, so in the interests of safety, I created a poleline to follow home [img:left] [/img]
