1/10/12 - 11:34am
There was about 10cm of snow up there yesterday. Drifts up to 20cm.

Roads are not cleared. Only staff on the mountain are bistro staff. Only ski hire open is in Narbethong. Chains should be fitted to all vehicles. Plenty of snow.

None was attempted today, so I presume that will be the case tomorrow as well. That's why I'm recommending chains be carried by all tomorrow. I think they'll clear it on Monday, if there's still any snow on it.

Any news on road clearing?

29/9/12 - 4:02pm
I think it's going to be on again tomorrow! Snow is falling heavily and should continue to do so for a while. I would recommend chains for all vehicles (including 4WDs) although it's doubtful that they will be enforcing it. The mountain is pretty much closed for the winter, but that means free entry. The bistro may be operating. The ski hire in Narbethong on the left (opposite CFA) will definitely be open tomorrow with a full range of gear, but it's unlikely that any other ski hire will be open. There should be plenty of snow for tobogganing and snow play, but you may have to compress your own toboggan track on the toboggan run.

Well, just a dusting overnight, not enough to make any difference (apart from looking a bit prettier), so let's hope for a decent fall today before the weather fines up again.

But the bistro will remain open while there's still snow. Oh, so will their ski hire, but any thinking person would hire off mountain anyway.

Hi Teckel,
Hopefully the resort have learnt from past seasons and will plough the roads if a late dump occurs? Or maybe not given these (greatly overquoted) tough times!

Will try to drop by if we fluke a late snow event - nice to visit snow without driving for hours! (:-)

A shame with the school holidays starting on the weekend.
17/9/12 - 4:35pm
Oh well, it looks like the mountain regards punters as 'dispendable'

Skiing was good today. Tobogganing very very wet, but all my customers still really enjoyed it. Tomorrow shouldn't be nearly as wet. Skiing should continue to be pretty good smile
8/9/12 - 2:52pm
Anyone out there today?
Planning on visiting tomorrow.

Should be a good weekend - new snow and no crowds.

5/9/12 - 10:46am
Trails are closed today due to debris caused by high winds and the danger of falling trees. Toboggan run is open, though.
3/9/12 - 8:34pm
Today, Monday 3/9 was also a day of super spring conditions, especially in the morning. Blue sky, bright sunshine. A firm surface had been groomed and there was just one set of tracks ahead of me on Jubilee ridge- I hadn't been out there for some time- why? A farmer from Alex. had a word on the way and a friendly older couple from Switzerland were about the only folk around. Great views out to Howitt (?) and the Crosscut. Get up there before this next weather system is my advice. A few muddy patches and rocks were appearing after lunch and the snow was much slower, but hey, it's September skiing at LM.

Thanks CC, although she didn't introduce herself. Everyone today who went had a ball smile

My sister took her young kids to the snow for the first time today ( told them to stop at your shop to hire a tobbogan, Teckel).
They had a ball, plenty of snow.

Today was another great day. Heaps of skiers out there, particularly kids with dads, out skiing for fathers' day. Snow superb, weather fantastic. And no lumps of snow falling on peoples' heads. Even HiLo was out there! wink
1/9/12 - 4:50pm
Just about as good as it gets today - warm, sunny, wide flat immaculately groomed trails and great snow. Only slight downside was getting continually hit in the head with lumps of snow falling out of the trees as it melted off - though at least with no wind it meant there wasn't thousands of little branches breaking off and dropping on the trails like so often happens.

Started to get quite sticky about 12.30 but terrific up till then. Well worth the trip tomorrow for anyone contemplating. Will try and get a couple of photos up later.

Weather outlook for the weekend and beyond:

Sat & Sun - fine weather, great snow. What more could anyone ask for?
Mon - Wed - continuing fine. Turning to rain by Wed afternoon, then to snow Wed night. Snow on Thursday and absolutely dumping on Friday to very low levels (the lowest all year). Subject to change of course, as this next snow system gets closer.
31/8/12 - 7:48am
Looks terrific up there!!

All ski trails rated as 'excellent' for this weekend. So is the main toboggan run. Other toboggan runs open and rated as 'good'. Going to be a great weekend for all the dads (and kids) out there. Chains required today (Friday)

Cool, Mufts smile
Looks like this weekend will be really good, too. Hopefully without all the debris.
28/8/12 - 5:33pm
Was up for the day, all trails had good cover, excellent on the upper trails, just lots of storm debris (bark, branches, ice chunks), but Panorama loop etc was great.

Couple of crappy phone pics.

At the toboggan/car park level it rained heavily for most of the day. On the trails though it alternated between rain and snow. The trails seemed to be holding up, except for the 50m or so of the trails. Currently it's +0.2 deg at the car park and BOM radar has shown precipitation for much of the evening, which at that temp should be falling as snow, especially on the trails. In summary, I think skiing should still be good tomorrow, and well worth a trip.
18/8/12 - 9:51pm
Any reports Teckel or anyone else who ventured up the mountain today? Will the skiing conditions be good for tomorrow?

17/8/12 - 9:13am
15 cm of fresh snow has fallen between 5am and 8am this morning (Friday), and it's still snowing! woohoo
Should make for a great weekend, especially on Sunday when the weather will clear.
