I'm sure everyone would rather have it the other way, yet 2 days after the press release...
I guess the only way to have something confirmed is to wait for the official denial!

Planet Gotham to shut this weekend

Very marginal but fun on Razorback drifts last Saturday. Virtually no touring along ridge - carry skis between drifts.

Be worse after three days of rain. (:-0

Summit and HV are now closed.

Press Release: 17 Sep 2013

Rumours may be rife but the north eastern resorts of Falls Creek and Hotham are definitely OPEN with Spring skiing and riding in full swing. The official end of the 2013 Winter season is Sunday 29 September.

The exciting news too is that snow is forecast to fall again from Wednesday this week through to Saturday.

.......

There are now less than two weeks left of the 2013 Ski Season so Chuck a Snowie NOW and enjoy turns in Victoria’s most reliable snow resorts while you can.

Grim I would suggest. Didn't bother going out there on Sunday.

Any got reports what side country is like? Machinery/Swindlers Spur?

Hotham was surprisingly awesome. The fog/could stayed above the village, the amount of open terrain was huge by comparison to another place, and no punters in sight. I couldn't even read the Slow Signs I was going so fast.

Feel a bit sad actually, but not going to take the risk for the next few years.

My deciding factor is actually not the Hero Pass price, it's the accommodation and car entry prices that have tipped me in the negative.

January 2014 is likely to force a further "shift" in focus....... wink

$500 or whatever figure Hotham RMB plucks out of the air is a deal breaker. Besides we get 11 or 12 days at Buller and Hotham including transport and resort entry, more booze and Redbull than I can drink, and food and beds and lifts for the same price as a H/F+Buller pass. So the question for me is do I apply that money towards a 3rd US trip.

I agree. Being a lodge member ensures a bed at a very reasonable cost. Don't know how we would have managed it otherwise. Staying commercially gets very expensive , especially if you have a family.

My +1 got 3 days skiing on her pass this year! I broke even with 7 days.

Will go again for 2014 as not going O/S next year. frown

I got 5, would have had 9+ if I hadn't of done my knee 2 weeks ago tany

I'm in the same boat ... Will I... Won't I???

I managed 14 days - couple of those were short days but got out every day for at least a few laps. Not bad coming over from Perth. Didn't get to see everyone though frown

I'm lucky that my lodge membership makes on mountain accommodation a very attractive offering. That membership was the BEST ski $ investment I've ever made. Wish I'd done it years earlier.

Normally I would agree except I was busy taking photos and giving live updates regarding the mountain. Someone had to since the mushroom o'meter disappeared this year wink

well had the phone fallen out of my hands and broken it would be a different story

Yes it would but why the phone, everyone seems to need to make a phone call on the lift.

Saw one drop from the chair this morning and the mayhem that ensued was hilarious.

That is where we are in two minds. With free accommodation in Bright, we really just should bite the bullet. It is whether we head overseas or not though.

So close to hitting 10 degrees today. It's slowly climbed from 9.0 at 1330 to 9.6 at 1530.

Looks like Orchard/Keogh's/Gotcha (as well as Blue Ribbon) are all done for the season. Shame I didn't get to ride them at all.

Even HV cam is starting to look depressing. Was considering a school hols trip with the kids (would be their first time at Hotham), but won't bother I don't think.
