Snow Blankets the Alps

fallscreek: For the second time this week snow has blanketed the Alps with great snowfalls recorded at the resorts with 15-20cm of new snow reported this morning.

At Falls Creek overnight temperatures dipped well below zero. Close to 40cm has fallen at the resort in the last week.

After a very cold spell, when the snow depths were increased, there is going to be some of the best riding of the winter this weekend and into next week. Very chilly temperatures at Falls Creek (and the capital cities) this week has resulted in high-quality snow.

Skiers and boarders should seriously consider 'Chucking a Snowie' to take advantage of the mid-winter conditions, well-priced accommmodation and reduced priced ski lift tickets currently being offered at alpine resorts such as Falls Creek.

A three day ski lift ticket is $270 (child $135) and if you take a first-timer it will cost them only $74 per person including a two hour class lesson and all day use of Falls Creek's most suitable beginner lifts- Falls Express Chairlift, Mouse Trap covered carpet and Boardwalk.

More experienced, gung-ho, snow riders can use every ski lift with their lift pass. Plus the fresh snow has enhanced every in-bound and outer bound ski trail. It is shaping up as a very good August and there's lots of affordable accommodation options at Falls Creek between now and the close of the 2012 winter season.
