While many Victorians may be shivering this morning Mt Buller's ski slopes are full of smiles, shouts and cheers as skiers and boarders enjoy some eagerly awaited fresh snowfall on the mountain. The cold front crossed late yesterday bringing blizzarding conditions at times and boosting the cover on the mountain to over 1 metre in some areas.
"It's great to see so much fresh snow out there and skiers and boarders making the most of these beautiful fresh snow conditions," said Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Laurie Blampied on Bourke Street this morning surveying the cover in -3 degree temperatures.
"The additional snowfall and cover will help us open more lifts this weekend and we are pleased to announce that we expect Federation, Bull Run, Grimus and the Canyon Tows to all come into operation."
Mt Buller has the largest lifting network in Victoria and anticipates 20 of the total 22 lifts to turn this Saturday thanks to the additional snow cover brought by the latest weather pattern.
"With more snow forecast to continue landing today and conditions staying nice and cold we are feeling more confident than we have in a while today. We've been waiting for this fall to arrive and are glad it's here" said Blampied. "This is good news for everyone who loves their skiing and their snow. We have plenty of both to offer this week!"
