It's been an excellent start to the 2012 winter season and to celebrate Perisher is happy to announce that 60 local community groups will benefit from its early opening on the weekend of 2 June.
In total $32,000 was raised from lift ticket sales, all of which had been earmarked to be donated to those doing great work in the Snowy Mountains area.
Local organisations and charities were asked by Perisher to make a submission on how they could best use a donation from the resort, and, the result was staggering.
In total 60 local community groups contacted Perisher with a valid reason to provide them with a charitable donation.
"To be honest we were overwhelmed with the response by organisations that could genuinely do with a helping hand; there are so many people doing such great work in the region," said Peter Brulisauer, CEO at Perisher.
"It made the decision on how to divide the money extremely difficult. We are proud to be part of the Snowy Mountains community and we are so glad that we could assist all of these organisations in some way," concluded Mr Brulisauer.
The list of recipients for donations from Perisher include: local schools, LAOKO, health groups, athlete programs and sporting clubs to name a few.
