The lodge commands breathtaking views of the adjacent mountains, and is surrounded by snow gums and wildlife. You can either self cater using the well-appointed kitchen, or enjoy the mountain restaurants that abound nearby.

Austen is nestled in the Dargo subdivision near the edge of a huge ravine that overlooks the Southern Alps. It is a short walk over snow-covered tracks to the commercial establishments and to the free village buses that take you to the central summit. Groomed Cross Country Ski Trails begin near the Lodge and stretch for kilometers in either direction, while downhill skiers can ski down the Frosty Drop trail to meet the main ski runs and lifts.
A 30 minute parking area for unloading is located opposite Jack Frost. Follow the road signs AUSTEN BHP to the lodge which is about 300 meters from the parking area. A sled is available at the lodge for over snow transport of luggage. After unloading your car, proceed down the road to the nearest long term parking space. A manager, who is resident in the lodge throughout the ski season, will have allocated the rooms to all guests. Your room number will be posted on the notice board in the foyer.
A minimum three lift snow guarantee operates when you book your accommodation with Austen. The following conditions apply - if there are fewer than 3 lifts at Hotham operational due to lack of snow, three days prior to the commencement of your ski holiday you may elect to receive a credit or refund for pre-organised Austen accommodation.
The Club currently has a membership share for sale, which enables the member and family or friends large discounts on accommodation together with booking priority. Any enquiries should be directed to the Secretary at gapollard@optusnet.com.au
